Oh man, if you haven't read this book yet, you're missing out! This is the perfect spooky read for a chilly autumn night. Stephen King really knows how to write a horror story that will keep you up at night. And Complex chose it as one of the 50 books to read before you die? I mean, I definitely agree, but damn.
The Shining Book Review | Written By Stephen King
Okay, can we just take a moment to appreciate that Stephen King wrote a book review for his own book? I mean, I guess if anyone knows how good it is, it's him. But still, pretty hilarious if you ask me. And the review itself is pretty great, too. He talks about how he came up with the idea for the book and what it was like to write it. Definitely worth a read.
The Shining - The Movie
Okay, we gotta talk about the movie version of The Shining. I mean, it's a classic, right? But let's be real, there are definitely some differences between the book and the movie. And I gotta say, I think the book is better. Don't get me wrong, Jack Nicholson is amazing and creepy as hell, but there's just something about the book that's even more terrifying. Maybe it's because your imagination can go wild when you're reading it. Either way, I highly recommend both the book and the movie.
Kubrick vs King
And finally, let's talk about the battle between Stanley Kubrick and Stephen King. I'm sure you've heard that Kubrick's movie deviates from the book quite a bit, and King was not happy about it. But Kubrick was a genius in his own right, and he created a masterpiece of a movie. So who's right? Who's wrong? Personally, I think both the book and the movie are amazing in their own way. You just have to appreciate them separately. But hey, that's just my opinion.
